Our Board has done a good job of aggressively pursuing state and federal dollars and grants, wherever possible. For example, in the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver program in Fiscal Year 2019 over 13 million dollars’ worth of services were authorized, coordinated and delivered to individuals in our community in Scioto County, however due to state subsidies and federal match money our local commitment for this amount of service was approximately 1.1 million. This is just one example from one program operated by the board of efficient use of local tax dollars.
Our state income has increased by 12% in past 5 years including funds to assist with waiver match as mentioned above. Our federal income has decreased by 39% which is consistent with national trends. Currently state and federal funds represent 48% of the overall income budget of the board.
